The extremely long sandy extent of great untamed natural beauty that makes up Aivados Beach is understandably part of the Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina Natural Park, given that the surrounding area contains a diverse range of vegetation that includes a number of species unique to this habitat.

Generally uncrowded, the waves breaking on this beach mean that it has become well known to surfers and frequently hosts surfing events and competitions.
