The Church of Nossa Senhora da Guia, attached to the convent of São Francisco, was built in the 18th century.
The interior of the three naves, divided by two levels of arches includes a valuable heritage collection. Key features include the gilded woodwork altarpieces, the baroque paintings and statues and a notable collection of canvases featuring scenes from the life of São Francisco. The sacristy has a gilded woodwork ceiling, a chest of drawers made out of Jacaranda-wood, a stone fountain and Indo-Portuguese ivory statues.
This Church houses the remains of Paulo da Gama, Vasco da Gama's older brother, who commanded the vessel São Rafael during the first maritime voyage to India.
