Church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção
The Church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção is the Parish Church of Vila do Porto.
It was initially built in the 15th and 16th centuries, and was subject to reconstruction in the 17th and 19th centuries. The remnants of the original building include the lateral pointed arched doorway and the Chapel of Santa Catarina, with a ribbed vaulted arched roof.
Key features of the interior include the 18th-century baroque carved woodwork altars and early 16th century Flemish statues, in particular a statue of Our Lady with baby Jesus.
A 19th-century Fountain is located in front of the church.
