Museu da Villa Romana do Rabaçal
The Roman Villa of Rabaçal is a museum composed of three sections that complement one another and help to make the Roman presence in the region more understandable to its visitors.
The first of the sections is housed in the museum itself, exhibiting various objects that have been found at the archaeological site. The second section to be visited is the archaeological site itself, located at Ordem/Rabaçal, on the eastern slopes of the Serra de Sicó. Here, visitors can appreciate what remains of the stately residence (villa), inhabited between the 4th and 5th centuries AD, the baths, the various farm buildings and the water pumping systems.
The visit is completed with a trip to the museum’s last section at Chanca, offering the chance to enjoy the panoramic view over the road system, the settlement and the surrounding countryside, where there is a clear prevalence of Mediterranean crops.
