Museu de Cera de Fátima
Museu de Cera de Fátima
Museums and Palaces
Located right by the Sanctuary, the pilgrim may visit the Fátima Wax Museum, one of the first of its kind in Portugal.
According to the museum's own motto, «appreciating the 31 scenes in this museum is to understand just why 6 million people visit Fátima ever year.» Through wax figures, the museum tells the story of the Fátima witnesses and the most important historical events.
A special emphasis is placed on the Papal visits - Paul VI in 1967, John Paul II in 1982 and 1991 - and to the scene depicting the ´Beatification of the Shepherds´. This took place on the 13th May 2000 (thus celebrating the first anniversary of the canonisation).
