Museums and Palaces
The museum is housed inside the church of Santa Maria do Castelo and has the most remarkable collection of Sevillan corda seca azulejos in the whole of Portugal. It also has several collections of paintings, religious vestments, ethnography and carved gilded woodwork, as well as the carved stone tombs of the counts of Abrantes, D. Diogo de Almeida, D. Lopo de Almeida and D. João de Almeida.
Of particular interest here is the sculpture exhibition, with pieces dating from Roman times to the 18th c., as well as the permanently renewed exhibition of sacred art.
