With access via a tunnel connecting with the city centre, Peneco or Túnel Beach is located at the long stretch of sand running the length of Albufeira.
At the far west of the beach, there is a promenade perfect for a pleasant stroll and providing views over the layout of the city and a rather different perspective on the succession of beaches. The promenade ends at the pretty Xorino Grotto believed to have been used as a safe haven by Moors following the Christian conquest of Albufeira in the 13th century.
Right by the beach, the bars and restaurants provide all kinds of choice to round off a day's leisurely sunbathing.
