Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora de Mércoles
This sanctuary is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, its secondary patron saints are Santa Eufemia and Santa Luzia. In the document in which the Herdade de Acafa was donated to the Templars, located next to the hill where the sanctuary is built, there is the first mention of the "Capul Mercoris".
The architectural style of the church reveals a transition from Roman to Gothic style. The church suffered alterations during the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, and is now classified as a Building of Public Interest. The church maintains a primitive design, with a single quadrangular nave and a single apsidal chapel. The church faces the East, in accordance with liturgical norms.
The annual pilgrimage is held on the third Sunday of Easter and the following Monday and Tuesday.
