The Igreja Matriz de São Roque is an 18th-century church, whose building work began in 1776.
Inside, visitors can admire the carved and gilded woodwork of the altars, a set of religious images, most notably a 16th-century image of the church’s patron saint (St. Rock) and another 18th-century image of St. Anne, a jacaranda lectern with ivory inlays and a silver chandelier offered by king Dom João V (1689-1750).
