Beaches
Maritime beach
In the late 19th and early part of the 20th century, Granja Beach was the focal point of the most aristocratic summer resort in the north of Portugal, attracting royalty, the court and some of the most important Portuguese writers of that period such as Ramalho Ortigão and Eça de Queirós. Dating from those heydays are many of the older chalets which, surrounded by vegetation, endow Granja with a charm that has survived the passage of time.
The beach, experiencing some erosion in recent years, includes access for the physically challenged.
