Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Cola
This Sanctuary in Ourique celebrates the birth of Our Lady and enjoys major popular devotion in the Alentejo. Every year, during the month of May, there are various religious festivities with no fixed date. The main pilgrimage, however, takes place on September 7 and 8.
A primitive church was erected in the site in the 14th century, but the present church dates from the 17th century. The interior houses a 17th century gilded woodwork statue, that substituted the primitive statue.
The Sanctuary is included within the archaeological complex of Castro da Cola.
