Coimbra University Tower
Dates from 1728. Regarded as a symbol of the city, the tower stands 34 metres high and is richly decorated. The construction consists of several storeys, the second to last of which has openings through which the bells can be seen.
There is a clock on the walls of the final storey, which leads to a panoramic terrace on the top. A narrow spiral staircase leads to the upper storeys.
