The Freixo de Espada à Cinta Church of Mercy, built in the early 16th century, presents a combination of architectural styles characteristic of the time: Mannerist and Baroque.

Presenting a rectangular floorplan, it differs from other similar churches in its narrow, high nave, leading to a wider apse with gilded carved altars. Its simple façade, which features 16th-century doors with round arches, is topped by gargoyles and spindle-shaped pinnacles.
