Chapel of São Bartolomeu - Trancoso
Beyond the walls of Trancoso, in the Largo da Feira, we encounter the Hermitage of São Bartolomeu, a small baroque chapel built in the 18th century. Its most distinctive architectural feature - very rare at the regional level - is its octagonal layout, with six roof faces.
Inside the chapel there is a painted carved woodwork altarpiece.
According to tradition, the chapel marks the place where King D. Dinis married Isabel de Aragão in 1282 in an old chapel that existed in this site, devoted to the same saint.
