Convent and Church of São Francisco
The Convent of São Francisco de Vila do Porto was first erected in 1607, but was destroyed by corsairs, nine years after its foundation. It was rebuilt in 1725 and subject to expansion works in 1822.
The Church dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Vitória, includes the Chapel of the Ordem Terceira, which houses two carved woodwork altarpieces and a notable statue of Christ, the Chapel of Senhor do Sepulcro, with a carved altarpiece and the Chapel of Almas, cocered in val uable 17th century azulejo tiles, dedicated to Santo António.
The convent annex buildings are currently being used to house services of the Municipal Council.
