Museu de Arqueologia e Etnologia de Montemor-o-Novo
Museums and Palaces
The museum is housed in the Convento de São Domingos, whose church is lined with an extremely beautiful set of 17th century glazed tiles. It has an important archaeological collection, with exhibits from the Palaeolithic era to the Middle Ages.
Amongst the museum's main attractions are the pottery exhibition and the section on ethnography, which displays the everyday customs and economic life of the region, from the 19th century to the present day. There is also a section exhibiting sacred art, bullfighting and some fine examples of animal-drawn carriages.
