Casa da Fonte
Povorais is an idyllic village belonging to the district of Góis, where the presence of humankind is proved to exist at least since 1601 (according to official records). Surrounded by luxuriant landscapes and overlooking to the Serra da Lousã (Lousã Mountain) along with privileged accesses to Penedos de Góis (Boulders of Góis), the calm that it naturally conveys to those who visit it, make of it a unique place. The good conditions of the surrounding roads allow the visitors to reach places like Praias Fluviais de Góis (River Beach of Góis) , as well as the Praia Fluvial de Pessegueiro (River Beach of Pessegueiro), mostly in the hottest season, and also to visit the Poços de Neve (Snow Wells) in Santo António da Neve. And it’s in the midst of this beautiful environment that the beautiful Casa da Fonte (Fountain House) was rebuilt, in schist, in order to allow its visitors to enjoy what the Nature of this region has best and most gorgeous.
The Casa da Fonte consists of two floors. On the upper floor there are three bedrooms with wooden ceilings and wooden floors. On the ground floor there is one kitchen, one bathroom, one living room with lowered fireplace. It has also slated ground and wooden ceiling and its original design was preserved. The local population is welcoming and friendly and those who visit this village leave willing to return soon.
