Casa dos Arrábidos
Casa dos Arrábidos is a walled estate situated in the periphery of Torres Novas, one of the main cities of Santarém district.
At is origin, an old monastery of friars Franciscanos Arrábidos that came here in the XVI century, building a small monastery, a chapel, some annexes, a walled "fence", as well as the garden and the orchard that served the monastery.
Casa dos Arrábidos is built taking advantage of the monastery remains and, although interiorly it is endowed with all modern comfort, the owners always had and continue to have the concern in taking advantage of the original trace, not destroying or hiding any historical vestige, but before, taking advantage and highlighting all original elements.
The exterior, perfectly integrated with the house, has the trace of simplicity and frugality that characterizes the spirit of the place and at the same time a flavour that invites to rest and to communicate with nature.
Of this exterior that spreads from all the front of the house, four zones are worth mention:
Lawn with gardened or wooded zones near the lounge.
Swimming pool with around 15x5m.
Vegetable garden, orchard, animal zone and olive yard up to the extreme of the estate.
A small “ermida” of the time of the friars, (of vaulted ceiling, with niche, stone banks and water spring).
Beyond that, the Chapel of the extinct Saint Anthony Monastery, also is able to and should be appreciated, mainly in virtue of the XVII century tiles that represent scenes from Saint Francis and Saint Anthony life.

Homemade Products: Since its origin this estate has been dedicated upon farming and production of homemade products, the actual owners continued this production and made available for sale some of this homemade products: jam, marmalades, etc.
