The Community Tours are operated by the local people who actually live in the Historical Center of Oporto. The tour guides are local residents.
These tour offer the visitors a unique opportunity to become a community tourist, which means you will meet the authentic and genuine Oporto, through the eyes and voices of those who live in this place; you will see what is and who is behind the facades of buildings; and may be involved in day to day life of a local community.
Your participation helps this community to remain active and sustainable and contributes to preserve their social and cultural identity!

Regarding the language, we would like to advert that the tour is in Portuguese with the assistance of a guide interpreter. The tour is conducted by local community guides which has their own way of expressing themselves. The language (like other elements such as music, dance, beliefs, customs and traditions) is an integral part of the cultural identity of a territory and of a community. The assistance of a guide interpreter does not represent a simultaneous interpretation. We do not intend to interpret everything that is said in one language to another, but to inform on some key points for the overall understanding of the tour and clarifying all the issues / concerns of foreign tourists. We're focused on assure that the tourist will experience the spirit of the community and get the feeling... listening, watching, contacting…being part of the whole thing.
