Situated in a quiet area between Quarteira and Vale do Lobo, Loulé Velho Beach has ochre-coloured cliffs as its backdrop, surrounded by an extensive pine forest. Access is by a dirt track that runs through a valley of farmland, and is a long sandy beach with a bar and good support facilities.
There are curious traces of the ancient Roman fish salting tanks that the sea occasionally uncovers.
