In the heart of Serra da Estrela, Lapa dos Dinheiros river beach takes its name from the nearby village and is situated on the Caniça River which is a tributary of the Alva River. 

This river beach, with good support facilities, is fully part of its natural surroundings, in an area with great biodiversity. Of particular interest is the Souto da Lapa with its ancient chestnut trees.

In the immediate vicinity, due to the rugged terrain, there is a succession of waterfalls known as the "Caniça waterfalls", which can be appreciated from the viewpoint.
