Urban Sketchers in Algarve
In the Algarve, sun and sea, nature and gastronomy were the inspiration of sketchers Hélio Boto, Portuguese, and Róisín Curé, Irish. As an iconic beach destination in Europe, because of the climate and landscape, it was the lesser-known secrets that disclosed themselves to the sketchers: the historical heritage of the cities and towns, small protected havens of protected landscape and beaches still in their best state of preservation, where the fauna and the flora live in harmony with the daily life of the fishermen.
Discovery of the region embraced the cities of Olhão, Faro, Vilamoura, Loulé and Aljezur, the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa, the protected landscape of Fonte Benémola, the Termas de Monchique and several beaches on the Costa Vicentina. It was a trip that travelled the Algarve from east to west, which provided a range of perspectives and generated a pretty representative series of drawings. The culinary specialities rounded off the Algarve experience in the best way.
