    The fort has a curious triangular shape, with a half rampart in its northern corner. Inside is a small chapel and the barracks. Together with the Forte de Buarcos and the Fortim de Palheiros, it formed part of a group of defensive fortifications.

    Rectangular in shape and with a turret on each corner, this fort stands to the south of the harbour bar on a high sheer cliff. Inside its walls is a small chapel dedicated to Santa Catarina, with a Gothic portal.
