Arriving in the Algarve by boat, you will find many places along the coast where you can safely dock.

The Marinas and Yacht Harbours offer all the amenities and services you might need and have many opportunities for fun and recreation that make them great entertainment centres in the areas in which they are located, also attracting many visitors arriving by land.

Always in excellent condition, these facilities stretch from one end of the region to the other. Starting in the west, there’s the Lagos Marina, which was awarded the Euromarina Anchor Award and is located in a large bay, one of the largest in Europe, four kilometres wide. There’s an ancient nautical tradition here, as the city itself has always been linked to the seafaring history of this country of sailors, ever since the Discoveries.

Portimão Marina, in an inlet of the river Arade hidden by the towering cliffs of Praia da Rocha, is considered one of the safest harbours in the country, and offers the assistance of Dockmasters to moor vessels. The marina is the setting for high competition sports events, and is surrounded by a very pleasant Riverside Walk where you can relax after a full day’s activity. Portimão also has a Cruise Ship Harbour, which attracts large vessels and a great amount of movement throughout the year. 

Located within the floodplain Várzea da Orada, Albufeira Marina is right in the centre of the Algarve, in a prime location which gives easy access to the hot spots of this Algarve city known for its non-stop night and day entertainment. Vilamoura Marina is the oldest and largest in the country, with two distinct draught berthing areas and a vast complex to support recreational boating. Awarded the highest distinction of five anchors by the Yacht Harbour Association, the Marina also has the ISO 9001 quality certification and the ISO 14001 environmental management system certification, which recognise the excellent conditions it offers.

In Ria Formosa, the Faro and Olhão Yacht Harbours offer an ideal location for those exploring this Natural Park, which stretches for over 60 kilometres, with many rare species of flora and fauna, and with almost deserted sandy beaches on its barrier islands.

Finally, at the eastern end of the Algarve, in Vila Real de Santo António, the Guadiana Yacht Harbour is situated at the mouth of this river that marks the border with Spain. It’s the first Portuguese port for those coming from the Mediterranean, and is also the ideal base for those who like to explore the interior of the region and discover areas where rural life is still very much alive.
