Towns and Villages

Tabuaço is situated close to the River Távora, a tributary to the region´s most important river, the Douro. In the surrounding area are several important Romanesque monuments, such as Barcos parish church (dating from the thirteenth century), the chapel at Sabroso or the monastery of São Pedro das Águias, founded by the Order of Saint Benedict, which was later incorporated into the Cistercian Order.
