The fort of Alqueidão is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the region.
 From here, there is a breathtaking view over the whole of the Atlantic coastline (the Berlengas islands, Serra de Sintra, Serra da Arrábida, the River Tagus and the meadows of the Ribatejo, as well as the beautiful countryside of the western region.

On this site, you will also be able to recognise the firing positions, trenches and ditches that were used to reinforce this defensive stronghold of great strategic importance.
This led to two military headquarters being installed in the municipality during the Napoleonic Wars (1810).
