Monuments
The Capela do Espírito Santo was founded in 1573, as an annex to support the charitable works of the Portuguese Misericórdia hospital.
In stylistic terms, the main interest of this chapel is its granite doorway, built in the Renaissance style and representing a unique feature amongst the various artistic details to be noted in Marvão. Consisting of a round arch, the doorway is flanked by two pilasters with sober lines and decorated with a geometric frieze. In the corners are two medallions carved in high relief. Above the doorway is a pediment of volutes framing a niche, where a statue of the Virgin Mary can be seen.
In front of the church is a small square with an 18th-century marble fountain, the Fonte do Concelho.
