Museums and Palaces
The Sacred Art and Ethnology Museum of Fátima provides visitors with a tour through the history of Salvation featuring a huge collection of Baby Jesus and Nativity scenes in addition to crucifixes and figures from the Passion and death of our Lord.
The exhibits, collected from all over Portugal, represent an unparalleled insight into the religious nature of the Portuguese people from the fourteenth century onwards.
Texts, maps, graphics, photographs and pieces of art collected from across continents set out the Evangelical itinerary from times long distant through to contemporary times. It effectively highlights the role played by the Portuguese in various eras, including that of the ´Discoveries´, as well as the current cultural and High Religious mission.
The Ethnographic Exhibition sets out the cultural context in which the Evangelical message was taken by missionaries. There are original pieces collected from Africa, America and the Far East.
There is also the opportunity to visit the Shepherds Exhibition featuring articles from the beatified Francisco and Jacinta Marto and their family.
