Museu Arpad Szenes - Vieira da Silva
Museu Arpad Szenes - Vieira da Silva
Museums and Palaces
This museum's permanent collection includes paintings by Arpad Szenes (1897-1985) and Maria Helena Vieira da Silva (1908-1992), which are housed in the old silk factory founded in 1734, in the reign of D. João V. Beautiful mulberry trees were planted in the nearby garden, which is bordered on the other side by the arches of the Lisbon aqueduct, built at the orders of the same king.
The museum has a regular programme of temporary exhibitions by artists whose work bears certain similarities with that of these two painters or who lived and worked closely with them.
