Located in the Natural Park of Serras de Aire e Candeeiros, around 500 metres above sea level, the Jurassic Belvedere offers an excellent observation point over the territory to the north and west of this mountain range, from where it is possible to see the Castle of Porto de Mós, the Monastery of Batalha or the Castle of Leiria.
The Belvedere is constituted by 15 limestone blocks that represent the main epochs of the Jurassic period when the predominant rocks found in the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros were formed, including two basalt elements - a stone typically found in sedimentary limestone massifs.
