In the city of Porto, near the mouth of the Douro River, Castelo do Queijo Beach has an urban typology, enjoying the services and access facilities inherent to its location.
This beach is located near an ancient defensive fortification built in the fifteenth century, the Fort of São Francisco Xavier do Queijo (Forte de São Francisco Xavier do Queijo), popularly known as Castelo do Queijo, which gives it its name and dominates the landscape of this small sandy beach surrounded by several rocky outcrops.
