Located to the north of Mondego Cape, Murtinheira Beach is a beautiful, natural environment that has survived all but free of human intervention. Off the large sandy beach, flanked by dunes, are some the best surfing waves to be found in the region and a draw for the young of Figueira da Foz.
The Serra da Boa Viagem mountain range, which provides the backdrop to this picturesque beach, has a forest park with some excellent walking along its market trails in addition to stunning views out over the coastline from the Miradouro da Vela.
