Accessed by a dirt track beginning just south of Zambujeira do Mar, in the heart of the Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina Natural Park, Alteirinhos Beach is peaceful with fine, golden sands. Sheltered from the prevailing winds by a tall cliff, on top of which is the car park, this beach contains a number of isolated coves, which are often used by naturists.

To the south of Alteirinhos lies Meia or Meia Laranja Beach where low tide reveals some curious rock formations.
