On the eastern limit of the Ria Formosa Natural Park is the small settlement of Cabanas, founded by fishermen who came from across Portugal to settle here at the beginning of the 20th century in order to go tuna fishing.
The ferry service leaves here to take you across the Estuary in order to reach the dreamlike beauty of the beach on Ilha de Cabanas. Its 7 kilometres of sand adjoins warm and placid seas providing full tranquillity for sunbathers further served by a full range of support infrastructures.
