Tours and Other Tourism Services
Take a ride from Alcochete to Lisbon along the banks of the River Tagus on board the "Alcatejo" boat.
Built in Aveiro in the 1940s for use on the River Tagus, this boat was restored by Alcochete Municipal Council in 1987 and is now used as a pleasure boat offering a variety of rides on the river.
In the course of the different recreational and leisure tours, you can also discover the particular characteristics of the boats used in former times and some of the old navigational practices.
The Alcatejo is also to be seen at various traditional festivals, such as the night-time procession on the river in honour of Our Lady of Life, which is part of the Festival of the Green Cap and Salt-Pans held in Alcochete, the Festival of St. Peter in Montijo or the Festival of Our Lady of the Safe Journey in Moita.
