Trindade Beerhouse opened in 1836. It occupies the place of the former canteen of the Trinos Monks, whose convert was established in 1283 and destroyed by the Lisbon earthquake in 1755.
In 1834, the Trindade Brewery was established and two years later the Beerhouse opened to the public. It was decorated with splendid tiles by ´Ferreira das Tabuletas` and is the oldest and the most beautiful beerhouse of Portugal.
In 1934 the brewery and the beerhouse were acquired by the founders of Central de Cervejas and became part of this company in 1935.
When Trindade Beerhouse celebrated 150 years in 1986, the Lisbon Town Hall declared it part of the capital`s cultural heritage. On the same year an Art Gallery was opened whith maintains a regular activity.
The Tourism Authority declared the building where the Beerhouse stays of important historic-cultural value in 1977.
