Portugal wins 9 awards in the World Travel Awards 2013
Portugal scooped 9 awards at the "World Travel Awards for Europe" ceremony that took place in Antalya, Turkey, in August.
From among the 41 Portuguese nominations for 2013, Portugal walked away with the following awards:
Algarve - Europe’s Leading Beach Destination
Lisbon - Europe's Leading City Break Destination
Portugal - Europe's Leading Golf Destination
Madeira - Europe's Leading Island Destination
Vila Joya – Europe's Leading Boutique Resort
The Vine Hotel – Europe's Leading Design Hotel)
Hotel Quinta do Lago - Europe's Leading Golf Resort
Conrad Algarve – Europe's Leading Luxury Resort
Martinhal Beach Resort & Hotel – Europe's Leading Villa Resort
In its 20th edition in 2013, the World Travel Awards are considered one of the most important awards in the tourism industry. The voting, done online, involved the participation of 180,000 tourism professionals. In 2012, Portugal walked away with six awards.
