The combination of the raw material (marble) with historical, cultural and heritage values of the municipalities that make up the Anticlinal de Estremoz region (Alandroal, Borba, Estremoz, Sousel and Vila Viçosa) and which is simultaneously one of the oldest and most productive surfaces of our country's marble extraction, make this region an exceptional showcase of marble and its various applications.
It is challenge of Rota do Mármore do Anticlinal de Estremoz to promote this noble ornamental rock and tis associated heritage as a cultural product, combining it with other valeus always desirable to those who enjoy a good tourist experience, such as the typical local cuisine or the natural beauty of the local landscape.
Given the existing quantity do marble heritage in the region Rota do Mármore do Anticlinal de Estremoz visits focus on the industrial side with visits to quarries, marble transformation companies and craftsmen workshops but also including historical heritage aspects which are focused on a wide diversity of monuments and historical sites where the marble stands out.
To participate in the activities of Rota do Mármore do Anticlinal de Estremoz you can do it in two ways:
a) Thematic Programme promoted monthly in collaboration with CECHAP, lasting one day (on Saturdays between 9:30 a.m. and 18:00 between March and October);
b) Groups and Corporate requesting a visit according to the program, timing, and duration assets that most interested him (available for groups from 2 participants and running all year).
Visits can be conducted in Portuguese, English, Spanish or French.
