Fátima through the eyes of... Fernanda Lamelas
Fernanda Lamelas was the sketcher host of three sketchers from Brazil, Poland and Hong Kong, who attended the celebrations of the Centenary of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fátima to the three shepherd children. Together they discovered Fátima, drawing what they saw and bearing witness to the powerful faith and devotion that bring so many pilgrims to Fátima every year.
Sketching in a group was a way of getting to know the place and its history better, while also feeling the warm welcome that the Portuguese extend to people from around the world.

““Waiting...
Waiting is part of the ritual of being in Fátima. Waiting for Pope Francisco to arrive this year made this ceremony unique, an unforgettable occasion... "

“There are people as far as the eye can see ... It is May 13, Pope Francis celebrates mass in the sanctuary for almost a million people! After 8 o'clock in the morning you could no longer get in... we were lucky, we have an excellent view from a first floor next to where the pope will pass as he makes his way out at the end. People have been waiting patiently ... for several hours...
While I’m drawing I’m also waiting for this moment ... "
