Your German hiking guide for the Algarve!

Organization and implementation of individual hikes, as well as individual tours and whole hiking weeks.

My name is Uwe Schemionek, I live permanently since 1993 in the Algarve and offer since 1994 the most varied walks through the Algarve.

For the first 10 years, I also ran a biological farm and lived in an almost abandoned mountain village in the Serra de Monchique among the last mountain farmers in the region. Some of them still live in a world like their grandparents once did. The work in the fields is handmade, surpluses were sold or exchanged. Over the years, I've learned a lot from them and their wonderful landscape.

During my guided hikes, I combine getting to know the fascinating flora and fauna with the culture and traditions of the region while sharing all my knowledge and experience to give you an insight into a world that is hidden from most Portugal Algarve visitors.

Today's meaning behind the word hiking is not the same as it used to be in the past. Nowadays, it is about a recreational value that sets by simply walking through nature, as well as stop to enjoy the scenery.

It does not have to be a straight and long hike. To befriend with the hiking, you should start with smaller hiking tours and also take a break for a day. On my homepage you will find a variety of walks that lead through the wonderful nature of the Algarve, sometimes in the back country, on the west coast or along the south coast. There should be something for every taste.
