SurfMilfontes opened its doors in 2003, by the hands of Filipe Queimada and Pedro Piteira, who at the time were two professional surfers in the Alentejo region. Initially, this project was aimed at kids and teenagers living in Vila Nova de Milfontes and worked as a surf club. Throughout the years, and as a result of the increase in tourism, people from all over the world wanted to learn how to surf, and get to know the surf spots around the area.

Considering that during the winter, the waves are usually better, the school stays open the entire year. Its team is composed of professionals with several years of experience and accredited by the Portuguese Surfing Federation.

It’s a privilege to surf in areas that are part of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, where the landscapes and natural environment are truly inspiring. There’s a lot of consistency when it comes to waves, and SurfMilfontes’ priority is to adapt the needs and safety of each student to the sea conditions. Furthermore, by having a maximum of 8 surfers per instructor, SurfMilfontes guarantees a more specialized service.

Apart from the surfing lessons and rentals, the school has a small store where it’s possible to buy clothes, merchandize, surfing gear and several crafts of local artists, and a Hostel, the SurfMilfontes House, both located in the centre of Vila Nova de Milfontes.
