Gaia Cable Car was built for TELEF, SA by Etermar SA and Doppelmayr GmbH, following a public tender managed by Gaia Municipality.

The Gaia cablecar offers passengers a trip between the historic Gaia Port Wine cellars and the stunning views over world heritage Porto and river Douro. Find out fine monuments which Gaia and Porto offer to you from a bird’s perspective and travel by the most environment friendly transport. The Gaia Cable Car construction began in March 2009 and the public operation started after two years, in April 2011. The cable car already became a touristic attraction and a sustainable mean of transport, connecting Gaia riverside promenade to the upper deck of D. Luis I bridge over river Douro nearby Jardim do Morro Metro station  and the belvedere of Serra do Pilar convent church.
