Manoel de Oliveira and the Portuguese Cinema: 2. Freedom!
Events
Inserted in the Serralves Museum, the Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira, presents "Manoel de Oliveira and the Cinema Portuguese: 2. Freedom!" the second part of a cycle of three exhibitions dedicated to the extraordinary personal archive (entirely deposited at Serralves), of one of the most emblematic Portuguese filmmakers and a must-see artist for any cinephile.
The first exhibition, "A Bem da Nações", was focused on the director's film production during the Estado Novo (1930-1970), the second, "Liberdade", focuses on the films made by Oliveira between 1970 and 1990, synchronizing with the fiftieth anniversary of April 25, 1974. Here, in a 20-year timeline, we will have access to a documentary legacy, based on two fundamental concepts: anachronism and anti-archive.
