The Sala Suggia of Casa da Música of Porto presents a concert starring accordionist João Barradas, Artist in Residence in 2024, for the interpretation of Luís Tinoco's latest score, and conductor Joana Carneiro directs Mendelssohn's works inspired by her trip to Scotland.

After many concerts in London, Mendelssohn travelled to Edinburgh, where the first ideas for the Scottish Symphony were born. After a tumultuous journey to the Hebrides, he visited Fingal's Cave and Holyrood, a jewel of classical architecture with stunning Baroque décor, residence of Mary, Queen of Scots. Historical scenarios that inspired him to compose the pieces on the program, emblematic masterpieces of the symphonic repertoire.
