Casa do Parlamento - Centro Interpretativo
Museums and Palaces
The Assembly of the Republic has a new space that can be visited by all citizens. Open to the public since April 25th, the House of Parliament-Interpretive Centre has four floors with the themes of Citizenship, Parliament, Democracy and Memory, through multimedia, interactive, games and video supports, providing a dynamic experience.
Here it is possible to simulate moments of the legislative and supervisory activities of the Assembly of the Republic, visualize the composition of the Parliament, from the First Legislature to the current one, or even go up to the pulpit, which reproduces the existing one in the Session Room, and record a brief speech.
Parliamentary history has not been forgotten, so the timeline shows important moments since the establishment of the parliamentary regime in Portugal and multimedia panels broadcast emblematic parliamentary debates staged by actors.
It is also possible to enjoy a Jukebox with intervention songs by artists such as Zeca Afonso, Capicua, José Mário Branco, Deolinda, among others, and a gallery dedicated to temporary exhibitions.
With its opening, the main objective of the Interpretive Centre – House of Parliament is to promote the active participation of civil society in the democratic process, exposing in a transparent and simplified way the functioning of the Portuguese political system and the role of the Assembly of the Republic, as well as its history and most relevant figures.
Come and see the House of Parliament-Interpretive Centre! Admission is free!
