The Setúbal International Theatre Festival – Theatre Festival began in 1995, in order to commemorate the 10 years of existence of Teatro Estúdio Fontenova. Since then, the Festival has been growing more and more, and its program includes reference shows by national and international companies, as well as emerging projects and artists.

The Festival also features music, exhibitions, film screenings and debates, mostly discussing the role of theatre in society. This year, it takes place between 21 and 31 August, with an extension to 18 September.
