Between the 6th and 22nd of August, the traditional Festas d'Assunção are back, organized by the "Real Irmandade da Nossa Senhora da Assunção – Fábrica da Igreja Paroquial de Nossa Senhora da Lapa", with the support of the Municipality of Póvoa de Varzim.

This religious festival of the patron saint of fishermen has as its high point the Solemn Eucharist and the Procession of Our Lady of the Assumption, on the holiday of August 15, ending with the performance of the Tricanas da Lapa Ranch. On August 14th, the highlight will be the concert by Vítor Rodrigues, followed by the fireworks. The celebrations end on August 22, with the Kiss of the Lady's Hand, followed by the last Eucharist and the trapped fire.
