100 years of Tivoli Theatre – Gulbenkian Orchestra
Events
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Tivoli Theatre, one of the venues that hosted the Gulbenkian Music Festivals between 1957 and 1970, the Gulbenkian Orchestra presents a very special concert.
The program begins with Edvard Grieg's "Suite Holberg", a moving work that revisits the style of the Baroque period with the romantic sensibility of the Norwegian composer. Next, it is the turn of "Concerto for Two Violins", by J. S. Bach, a masterpiece that highlights the counterpoint technique and will be performed by violinists Francisco Lima Santos and Anna Paliwoda. To end the concert, the Gulbenkian Orchestra plays the "Serenade for Strings" by the Czech composer Antonín Dvorák.
