Traditional Arts and Crafts, Professions of Today and of the past
Events
For some decades now, the representations of professions, especially in the Figurines of Barcelos, have happened frequently and naturally. Portraying the surrounding environment was and is a constant among Barcelos barristas who, if in the past, reflected rurality and the struggles of the countryside, today represent other professions in today's world.
The exhibition "Traditional Arts and Crafts, Professions of Today and of the past" aims to make known some of the professions linked to the area of traditional arts and crafts, such as blacksmith, potter, shoemaker, embroiderer, among others, many of which no longer exist, or have lost or have lost their importance, such as the groundskeeper, the miller and the grinder. It also shows the versatility of Barcelos' artisans, who, with great ease, respond to the challenges that are posed to them with great imagination and creativity.
