The Walking Festival Ameixial was the first hiking festival to take place in the Algarve, with the first edition taking place in 2014. The new edition of this festival, which is inspired by the theme of Southwest Writing, a 2500-year-old writing with important remains in this territory, takes place between the 25th and 28th of April.

The festival brings together a diverse audience, but with a common taste: walking. In addition to traditional walks, it promotes thematic walks related to history and local cultural heritage, such as Southwest Writing, or themes related to nature, such as bird watching and botany or scientific and photographic walks.
